Carers Advice

Due to COVID-19, our Carer Support Worker will be unable to attend the Surgery and the Carers Support organisation has made the decision to suspend all face to face work with carers until further notice.

However, her and the Carers Support (West Sussex) are still available to offer continued support to Carers during this time.

They are dedicating their time and resources on supporting carers across the county at this difficult time through their Response Line 0300 028 888 or online at

Response Line Telephone opening hours:

  • Monday - Friday:  09:00 - 17:00
  • Wednesday: 09:00 - 19:00
  • Saturdays: 10:00 - 12:00

Also you can visit their facebook @CarersWSussex for more peer to peer support.

NHS Links

There is a wealth of information on NHS Choices about carers and caring. Below are some links to the site that we hope you will find useful. You can also get local useful contacts from the Families & Friends network.

  • Telling people

Caring responsibilities can make it difficult to maintain friendships or develop new ones. Telling your friends you're a carer is important so they understand and can support you.

  • Taking a break

Caring for someone can be a full-time job, but it's essential that you take time out for yourself too. Read our guide to accessing breaks and respite.

  • Housing and carers

Do you know your tenancy rights as a carer? Are you aware of all your care at home options? Do you need tips on moving someone around the home?

Finance and Law

The following links provide help claiming benefits, looking after your bank balance and understanding the legal issues of caring.

The practice has a number of policies in place for carers. Please ask reception if you would like to find out more.
